Winter Olympics 2026
This project was based on the 2026 Winter Olympics, based in Milano/ Cortina, Italy. We were given four different projects that all add up and went together at the end. We started out with the logo. We then moved on to symbols, environmental banners, and then a map of the Olympics themselves.
My logo is created to be the cathedral in Milano, made into the Olympic torch, by using closure. I chose the orange for the obvious reason of the flame, and the blues because of the way that I thought they balanced out the warmth of the flame.
My symbols were created by having the outer shape of the windows and doors of the cathedral. The shapes of the figures have similar curves brought from the flame to give them the dynamics and movements of the sport they are participating in. I really wanted to incorporate similar shapes to tie them together and I thought that was the best way to do so.
My venue banners were created by bringing in forms from both my logo and symbols. I chose to create backgrounds from the colors I used, giving me the ability to use my logo and symbols more freely.
My map was created from an outline of the area of the Olympics. My colors remained the same and tie into the other three sections. I wanted to illustrate the locations of the sports so that it is easier on the viewer to know what they are looking for in their travels. The interactive part of the map is made by clicking on each location. When you click on them, it brings up more information about that specific place/ building and what sports are happening there.
